Lost Soul Aside reminds us that it’s still coming to the PlayStation with RTX trailer

Only time will tell if Lost Soul Aside will match the expectations set by its previews, but the initial indications are certainly promising.

The Lost Soul Aside could end up being one of the biggest surprises for the PS5 when it comes out next year.

Lost Soul Aside, a stunning in-development indie action RPG currently in development by Ultizero Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, has yet again captured the gaming world’s attention.

This remarkably beautiful game, conceived and designed by its visionary creator, Yang Bing, recently made waves at this year’s ChinaJoy event with a breathtaking new RTX trailer and a gameplay presentation. These advancements highlight the journey of Lost Soul Aside from a one-man project to a potential game-changer in the action-RPG genre.

Set to release in early 2024 for the PlayStation 5 and PC, Lost Soul Aside presents an engaging mix of elements drawn from acclaimed games like Final Fantasy XV (you know, the glorified road trip), Bayonetta, and Devil May Cry. Its combat system, breathtakingly stylish world design, and crisp visuals underscore the promise of an unparalleled gaming experience. In its new trailer, Lost Souls Aside provides glimpses of enormous enemies, beautiful vistas, and an engaging real-time combat system that delivers a captivating action-focused experience.

The game’s narrative revolves around the protagonist Kazer and his dragon companion, Arena. Their journey as teacher and student, exploring their dynamics and evolving relationship, adds a layer of depth to the impressive action sequences. This story plays out in a post-war setting teeming with challenges and enemies, offering players a multitude of unique experiences.

Lost Soul Aside’s inception traces back to Yang Bing’s solo effort, which eventually drew Sony’s attention in 2016. Sony then offered to support the project under its “China Hero Project”, an initiative aimed to promote independent developers that’s in China in the international arena. The game, crafted in Unreal Engine 4, shines the spotlight on Bing and his creativity, a testament to the developer’s remarkable transformation from a lone developer to the creator of an eagerly anticipated game.

The game initially targeted a PS4 release, but with the advent of PS5 and its superior hardware capabilities, the developer decided to extend the project to harness these new technological advancements. Bing’s ambitious endeavor wasn’t a walk in the park, as the game’s journey has seen multiple delays and challenges. However, these hiccups haven’t deterred Bing’s resolve or diminished the game’s growing appeal.

With Devil May Cry MIA, The Lost Souls Aside is the closest thing fans of the genre can get their hands on that’s coming out soon.

The showcase at ChinaJoy 2023 allowed attendees a sneak peek into what Lost Soul Aside has to offer. The RTX gameplay trailer stunned viewers with its fast-paced combat, and captivating visuals. Ultizero’s partnership with NVIDIA to implement ray tracing ensures an immersive gaming experience, replete with vivid environments that elevate the overall appeal of the game. This impressive showing stirred an increasing anticipation for Lost Soul Aside’s release, particularly among fans of hack and slash RPGs.

Despite the lack of a concrete release date, the game’s remarkable progress indicates that it’s nearing its final stages of its development. The compelling combination of attack sequences and magic abilities observed in the gameplay footage from the ChinaJoy event hints at an advanced level of development. While fans eagerly await an official upload of extended gameplay, the show floor footage, despite its less than optimal quality, offers a glimpse into the tantalizing action sequences, character dynamics, and the vibrant world of Lost Soul Aside.

The game may have begun as an individual’s dream, but it has grown into a collective anticipation shared by gamers across the world. The vibrant visuals, fluid combat, and an intriguing narrative, coupled with the inspiring story of its creation, make Lost Soul Aside a game to watch out for in 2024.

While not officially confirmed, Lost Souls Aside likely will no longer be available on the PlayStation 4.

In the meantime, those looking forward to playing a similar game might want to check out Final Fantasy 16, whose combat system was designed by Ryota Suzuki, formerly of the Devil May Cry franchise.
