It’s official: The Last of Us Part II is coming to PlayStation 5. Sony has announced the remaster of one of the best and most awarded games in history. However, Sony hasn’t confirmed that The Last of Us Part II: Remastered is coming to PC.
The Last of Us Part 2 is a controversial game and a frequent fodder for conversations on the internet. It should arrive on PC, except, Sony didn’t tell us anything about the PC port. Instead, The Last of Us Part 2 is getting a PS5 remaster on January 19. The trailer doesn’t even end with a note saying that the sequel is also in development for PC, unlike the “remake” of the first game.
TLDR; The Last of Us Part II: Remastered on PC isn’t mentioned, but, fans shouldn’t worry. At this point, the PC port is a matter of time.

Before the actual confirmation, one of the earliest pieces of evidence of The Last of Us Part II’s re-release came via one of Naughty Dog’s job posting. At the time, the first-party Sony studio sought help from a graphics programmer with an extensive knowledge of “current GPU architectures” like AMD and Nvidia.
Many took this as one of the biggest signs of The Last of Us Part 2 coming to PC on the same day as its PS5 release since Naughty Dog was working on both ports at the same time. Alas, this doesn’t seem to be the case. Perhaps releasing the PC port of The Last of Us Part II: Remastered so soon was too much of a task for the “fresh hires” brought on to work on the project, as per the recent reports.
Nevertheless, it’s nice to know that Naughty Dog wants to make sure that The Last of Us Part II: Remastered is compatible with a wide range of hardware outside of PS4 and PS5. The studio likely learned a tough lesson after The Last of Us Part 1 didn’t do so well on PC, both critically and commercially.
Aside from this job post, the outgoing Sony CEO, Jim Ryan, revealed in a previous interview with GQ that the company is working on a “whole slate” of first-party titles for PC. This is excellent news, all things considered.
The re-release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered, although controversial, is a breath of positive and fresh air for Naughty Dog. In recent times, the company has “struggled” with layoffs and delays, specifically to its multiplayer title set in The Last of Us universe. The last we heard, the game is still in development after reportedly being “dead.” Finally, subsequent reports confirm that the studio is working on an “original” title helmed by Neil Druckmann.
With The Last of Us Season 2 on HBO resuming filming in early 2024 ahead of its planned release in 2025, things are about to start looking up for one of gaming’s most storied developers.
Unfortunately, The Last of Us Part II Remastered’s arrival on PC will likely not be confirmed until Sony and Naughty Dog are satisfied with its quality. This day isn’t likely closer than we think.
