Somerville didn’t quite reach the heights of Limbo and Inside, but Xbox players found it worth playing, especially during breaks from Modern Warfare II last year. Though there isn’t overwhelming excitement for a PlayStation port, many PS4 and PS5 owners are eager to have it on their consoles – these wishes just might soon be answered.
Exophase, the trophy listing site, spotted 11 PS4 trophies for Somerville, hinting at potential PlayStation ports by developer Jumpship. This bears striking similarities to Squanch Games’ High on Life, which received PS4 and PS5 ports after players noticed a PS5 trophy list just a day prior.
Somerville, a moving sci-fi adventure game launched in November last year, offers an emotional journey with third-person gameplay, combining jump ‘n’ run-like features and physics-based puzzles – you know, many of the key ingredients of the hit indie experience.
With no dialogue or narration, the game skillfully tells its tale through captivating settings, environments, and animations. As players step into the shoes of an ordinary father, they must navigate a world besieged by alien invaders, now ruled by formidable creatures and machines.
The 2.5D adventure game has a few interactive kinks that can hinder the game’s experience (like finding the right position to interact with elements), but its minimalist art style and fantastic sound design more than compensate for them.
Somerville is available to play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam.
