Fans of J.K. Rowling’s works are literally counting down the days until Hogwarts Legacy is out. Ahead of the game’s launch in February, Warner Bros. Games has released a cinematic trailer featuring notable locations and characters from the Harry Potter films as well as the larger Wizarding World universe.

The trailer begins with a mysterious wizard tying a scroll of paper to an owl and instructing it to “find them.” It proceeds to fly out, soaring above the grounds and castles of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As the owl flies through the Great Hall, Potterheads will easily recognize the popular Gryffindor House ghost, Nearly Headless Nick, while we’re introduced to the game-original character, Professor Matilda Weasley.

Flying away from the safety of the Hogwarts grounds, the owl navigates through the Forbidden Forest, where we get to see some Hogwarts students warding off enormous spiders. Much further ahead, we encounter several dark wizards who are attempting to tame a hippogriff, and upon seeing the flying owl, the wizards cast multiple Avada Kedavra curses targeting the owl.

As if that’s not enough, the owl flies near a dragon that seems to be attacking some wizards on the ground and almost gets burned to a crisp. Finally, the trailer concludes with the owl delivering an invitation into the game, illuminating “them” to be the players of Hogwarts Legacy.

Although the trailer doesn’t reveal any map details, there was a recent leak of the official art book, which contains the full map, key characters, locations, and the character inventory system. Players will be able to employ a variety of available mounts, including broomsticks and hippogriffs, to traverse the vast open-world RPG.

Players who intend to play Hogwarts Legacy on PC can check the minimum and recommended system requirements to see whether they need to upgrade their setup before the game’s release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on February 10.
