Ah, the ’90s. A time of grunge, dial-up internet, and… stone gargoyles coming to life? That’s right, if you’re a fan of the iconic ’90s animated series Gargoyles, you’re in for a treat. Goliath and his crew are set to soar once again in the upcoming Gargoyles Remastered.
Last year, during the D23 Expo, Disney dropped a bombshell, announcing a remaster of the classic Sega Genesis title based on the beloved cartoon. And now, the wait is almost over. Gargoyles Remastered is set to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on October 19, with a modest price tag of $14.99.
The game is a revival of the classic 16-bit side-scrolling platformer released in 1995. Players will relive the epic journey of Goliath and the Gargoyles, battling against the evil Eye of Odin in the streets of New York.
The remastered version promises enhanced visuals, animations, and sound effects, all inspired by the acclaimed animated series. And for those feeling nostalgic, there’s an option to toggle between the new graphics and the classic 16-bit visuals.
Gargoyles Remastered will also feature modern touches like achievements, gameplay rewinds, and a remastered soundtrack. And for those who want to take a trip down memory lane, there’s an instant rewind feature and a wide-screen presentation. Plus, the original soundtrack has been remastered as well, ensuring that the game not only looks good but sounds good too.
Now, for the collectors out there, Limited Run Games is releasing physical editions of the game. There’s the Standard Edition priced at $34.99, a Classic Edition at $69.99, and for die-hard fans, a Collector’s Edition at $174.99. The Collector’s Edition includes a VHS-style clamshell case, a limited edition Goliath action figure, a poster, an enamel pin, and a certificate of authenticity.
