For some reason, Konami just won’t reveal when Silent Hill 2 Remake is coming out. To make matters worse, it seems like they’re at odds with the remake’s developer, Bloober Team. Thus, fans are left to speculate, picking up crumbs of information all across the internet. The latest morsel, in particular, comes courtesy of GameStop, which has now listed a new release window for the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive.
Shortly after images of a certain GameStop retail store putting up posters for Silent Hill 2 Remake popped up online, it’s now confirming that the game is coming out in “late 2024”, a time period that usually means anytime between October through December.
The detailed timing suggests GameStop intentionally placed the date. This, coupled with the simultaneous appearance of promotional posters, leads to speculation that the retailer might have inadvertently revealed the launch schedule a tad prematurely. Such a scenario suggests that an official announcement from Konami is imminent, which lines up with previous rumors.
However, skepticism remains that this could simply be an error. But an October release would make sense. It would align with the usually heightened demand for horror-related content during the Halloween season. Konami itself has historically embraced October for horror-themed releases.
The best-case scenario is Konami wants to avoid committing to a fixed release date until closer to launch. This minimizes the risk of disappointment in case the game requires additional polishing.
The recent comments about the available Silent Hill 2 Remake footage haven’t been too kind. Even if Bloober Team confirmed that the latest trailer doesn’t align with their vision for the game, it’s hard to get any hopes up knowing there’s a potential communication issue between the game’s publisher and developer.

Curiously, there’s a difference between latest promotional materials for Silent Hill 2 Remake from GameStop. The posters had the more recent “M” (Mature) rating. But the one that lists it with a “late 2024” release date still has a “Rating Pending” mark. This implies that the latter is either fake or an earlier image. In either case, the former would be the more “accurate” image except that it doesn’t have a release date, which still leaves us hanging.
As it stands, neither Konami, GameStop, nor Bloober Team have issued comments on the leak, adhering to a standard policy of not engaging with speculation or rumors.
Konami is currently sitting on at least two remakes, Silent Hill 2 Remake and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. We have little idea on when either one will be released. But David Hayter recently teased that more gameplay footage for the Metal Gear remake is coming, months after PlayStation featured it in a highlight reel composed of games coming out later this year.
