Check out this first-person mod for The Last of Us Part 1 on the PC

It's a real shame that Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy had to drop the ball on the PC port of The Last of Us Part 1 at launch.

The bleak but beautiful world of The Last of Us Part 1 looks different but in a good way in first-person.

After Capcom switched the perspective of Resident Evil from third-person to first-person, several have wondered if doing the same for other franchises would work well.

In this particular case, we got the answer to the question for The Last of Us Part 1.

The YouTuber, Voyagers Revenge, recently went viral for uploading a preview of their in-development first-person mod for The Last of Us Part 1 on the PC.

Previously, someone messed around with the game’s camera mode to give audiences a look at the world of The Last of Us Part 1 from Joel’s eyes. The main difference is that this isn’t just some workaround, it’s as close as a bespoke first-person perspective mode for the game can get. Joel and Ellie feel like they’re holding their weapons as if you’re playing The Last of Us Part 1 through their eyes.

Thus, the many genuine attempts to similar mods for other games create an interesting discussion about whether or not more titles should come with one out of the box.

We’re hoping The Last of Us Part 2 on PC gets this feature at launch.

Bethesda Softworks, for all their faults, will forever hold a special place in the hearts of gamers because it lets them choose how they want to experience their in-game worlds. The fact that others haven’t followed suit is as much of a mystery as when The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout V are coming out.

For now, The Last of Us fans can check out the development progress of the first-person mod for The Last of Us Part on YouTube. If you’d like to support them, you can also check out their Patreon.

The Last of Us Part 1 has steadily improved over the past few weeks, thanks to the efforts of Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy. The remake of the older remaster of a classic title is now on track to getting positive reviews on Steam.
