After Nintendo confirmed Pokemon Scarlet and Violet earlier this year, fans have waited for Game Freak to reveal the new Pokemon coming to the latest mainline Pokemon installment.

Most likely, we won’t see the new Pokemon until the game is close to coming out. However, this hasn’t stopped fans from combing through any new artwork releases to try and find out which new cute and cuddly creatures will make their debut in Scarlet and Violet.

In particular, a recent set of TCG card artworks appear to show new Pokemon. Or, at least, that’s what fans are wishing for.

The new Spiritomb Character Rare card shows wisps floating away from its body. The way it’s depicted makes it look like there’s a new Pokemon, but chances are, it isn’t. Of course, this hasn’t stopped Pokemon fans from letting Serebii’s Joe Merrick know their thoughts. Some even went as far as to name the non-existing Pokemon, Spiritiny, complete with fan art and fictional Pokedex entries explaining that Spiritiny is the pre-evolved form of Spiritomb.

If this keeps up, who knows? There’s no precedent set for Nintendo adding a fan-favorite fake Pokemon to its games, but you’ll never know.

Speaking of Pokemon, The Pokemon Company, a combined venture between Game Freak, Creatures, and Nintendo, just bought the company responsible for printing the Pokemon cards.
