Cyan Inc., the video game studio behind the popular adventure series Myst, has confirmed that Firmanent is coming out on May 18. The upcoming puzzle adventure title is a Kickstarter-funded title that reached its funding goal sooner after it was opened to the public in 2019.
Per the game’s Steam page, Firmament will feature deep storytelling and world-building. The game will take place in a “seemingly abandoned world” in which players will explore and, in the process, uncover “the mysteries of three unique Realms… and beyond!”
In Firmanent, players will explore three unique realms and beyond, unraveling the mysteries of the curiously vacant world with the help of an Adjunct device and a guiding spirit. Among the many puzzles to solve, players will discover whether the world of Firmament is truly abandoned.
To play on PC, the game requires at least 16GB of RAM, an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core Processor or Intel i5 7000 series, 20 GB of available storage space, and an AMD Radeon RX 5700XT or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB graphics card, as well as a 64-bit processor and Windows 10 operating system. For MacBook users, the minimum requirements include 8 GB of RAM, an Apple M1 or Intel i5 processor, 20 GB of available storage space, an Apple or AMD graphics card, a 64-bit processor, and macOS Ventura 13.3 operating system.
In addition to PC and MacBook, Firmament will also be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and various virtual reality devices, including PSVR2, Oculus Rift, Rift S, Quest 2, HTC Vive, and Valve Index. Cyan’s previous Kickstarter-funded game, Obduction, was well-received upon its release in 2016, and Firmament promises to offer an equally engaging and challenging experience for puzzle and adventure game fans alike.
