According to CentroLeaks, a well-known Pokémon dataminer, a code in the latest update for Pokémon Masters EX refers to an in-game campaign linked to a Pokémon Presents presentation scheduled for August 8. As any fan will tell you, most of the recent Pokémon Presents presentation has featured a tie-in event in-game. If this leak is anything to go by, we’ll see a broadcast on that very day.
But what’s even more thrilling is that this speculated Pokémon Presents event comes just days before the Pokémon World Championships.
This year’s championship holds a special place in the Pokémon universe. It’s the first one in nearly 20 years to take place in Japan and is set to be the grandest Pokémon World Championship ever. And with the hype for this event soaring, what better way to stoke the excitement than a Pokémon Presents presentation just a few days before?

Since 2020, Pokémon Presents events have been held semi-annually, in February and August. Hence, the prediction of an August event aligns with the pattern established in the last few years. The presentations often include updates and announcements related to a range of Pokémon games.
Given the recent updates to Pokémon Sleep and Pokémon Go, fans are speculating that these may feature in the upcoming presentation, among others.
Specifically, fans await the release date for the much-anticipated expansions for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Previously announced in February, “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero” Parts 1 and 2, subtitled “The Teal Mask” and “The Indigo Disk,” are slated for release in the fall and winter of 2023, respectively. These expansions will reintroduce several older Pokémon, not present in the Paldea region. Pre-ordering customers are slated to receive a unique uniform set that varies depending on the base game owned. Additionally, purchases made before October 31 will reward players with a Hisuian Zoroark, a character unattainable in the Paldea region.
Although we’re still waiting for official confirmation, widespread speculation posits that the presentation will reveal release dates for these expansions. Rumors also circulate about a possible feature of Detective Pikachu Returns at the event. As the Pokémon Company has had a recent spotlight in a Nintendo Direct, fans didn’t anticipate a Pokémon Presents event at this juncture. This unexpected event, in conjunction with the forthcoming Teal Mask DLC, could potentially distract from the lack of any other Pokémon games announced for the year.
However, hope remains strong among fans for the announcement of the development of the next installment in the series’ Pokémon Legends line of games. Previously, it was rumored that a Unova-based entry is in development. The said region is the setting for Pokémon Black and White.
While no official confirmation exists for the Pokémon Presents presentation on August 8, fans eagerly await updates. In the meantime, you may want to keep an eye out for the new Pokémon collaboration with McDonald’s next month.
