One Punch Man began as a superhero manga series but was so successful it was adapted into other media, including anime and a live-action film in the works at Sony. The manga has also been adapted into several video games, and a new one has just been announced.
The game, titled One Punch Man: World, is in development at Perfect World Games and will be published by Crunchyroll Games. From what we know, the video game will adapt the first season of the anime. It seems that consoles – PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch – will miss out on the game as the announcement only promises a release on PC and mobile platforms.
Alongside the game’s announcement, Crunchyroll Games released a gameplay trailer that gave us a sneak peek of the game. From what we can see, One Punch Man: World, will be action-packed. The trailer shows the game’s heroes taking on villains of different shapes and sizes.
We must confess that the battles looked cool and exciting, especially when you factor in the powers on display, brought to life by special effects. Naturally, One Punch Man: World will feature Saitama. However, the game will also feature many of our other favorite heroes, including Genos, Mumen Rider, Atomic Samurai, and Lightning Max.
One thing we find interesting about the game is that it is not all about fighting and destroying enemies. Players will have the opportunity to take a breather from it all and just explore the city. They can take advantage of discounts and sales, play games at the Gaming Centre, and take a walk in the city, among other things.
Alongside the trailer comes a brief description of the game. It reads, “A sinister wave of monster attacks has left Earth’s cities and the Hero Association under duress. However, after three years of special training, Saitama has become so powerful that he can defeat opponents with a single punch.”
The overview continues, “The thing is, Saitama just does the hero thing for fun, but when every enemy goes down in one punch, overwhelming power can be kind of… boring. Now, in front of the laid-back strongest hero, a new enemy appears. Will he be able to show his full power today?”
There is currently no confirmed release date for One Punch Man: World. Nevertheless, we can confirm the game will arrive sometime this year. As we have said, it will only be available on iOS, Android, and PC.
For fans who can’t wait to get their hands on the title, Crunchyroll Games offers the opportunity to preregister via its official website.
