Players find way to cheese hardest The Callisto Protocol trophy

This exploit makes it relatively easy to nab one of the most challenging trophies for The Callisto Protocol.

So far, players report that The Callisto Protocol exploit still works.

Striking Distance Studios’ debut title, The Callisto Protocol, is finally out. Performance issues aside, it’s actually quite a decent game. It’s not quite the spiritual successor to Dead Space that most had expected, but’s still fairly horrifying let alone challenging.

The full trophy list is somewhat challenging if you’re looking to hunt every single one of them down. However, there’s a way to make them easier to complete. In particular, players found a way to acquire the most difficult trophy with ease.

PowerPyx explains that the best way to beat the game on Max Security difficulty (the highest difficulty) and secure “The Protocol is About Life” trophy is to start the game on Max Security and switch to a lower difficulty setting. Then, once you defeat the final boss and complete the game, don’t forget to switch back to Max Security and you’ll receive “The Protocol is About Life” trophy.

Kinda Funny Games’ Greg Miller also claims that you don’t even need to start on Max Security. All you need to do is to switch to Max Security before you beat the game and you’ll still get the trophy. But, if you ask us, it still wouldn’t hurt to start the game on Max Security. Although we do understand if you’ve already started the game on another difficulty and want to try this out just before you finish playing.

Given that the studio still has its hands full fixing bugs in The Callisto Protocol, don’t expect this exploit to be fixed soon.

It will be interesting to see how long Striking Distance Studios will take to patch this out. The easiest fix is to prevent gamers from switching difficulties mid-game. Most developers do this in their games. It’s a great way to prevent these types of exploits and force players to commit to their initial choice. But, given that The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror game, it would make sense to give players a chance to switch difficulties mid-game.

The Callisto Protocol launched on December 2 following an earlier leak. Striking Distance Studios is currently busy trying to put out fires caused by performance issues in the game. Despite all of this, Striking Distance Studios is committed to supporting The Callisto Protocol for the next year.
