Dipping its toes into Spanish-language content, Adult Swim's 'Women Wearing Shoulder Pads' could become a groundbreaking series.

Adult Swim breaks new ground with Spanish series 'Women Wearing Shoulder Pads'

Adult Swim, known for its varied mix of animated content, has unveiled its latest slate of projects, and it’s nothing short of exciting for fans of the network. One of the standout announcements is the greenlighting of its inaugural Spanish-language series, Women Wearing Shoulder Pads.

While Adult Swim has been a global platform, releasing content in various languages, this marks its first venture into a domestically released Spanish-language series. Women Wearing Shoulder Pads isn’t just another addition to the Adult Swim lineup; the series will be a stop-motion animated project, a format that has seen some of the most memorable releases in Adult Swim’s history.

The buzz around the upcoming show grew louder during its showcase at this year’s New York Comic Con. Helmed by Gonzalo Cordova, the series is a collaborative effort with the renowned Mexico City-based studio, Cinema Fantasma. The studio’s impressive portfolio includes collaborations with Warner Bros. Discovery and even contributions to fan favorites like Rick and Morty and Mr. Pickles.

The 15-minute comedy episodes of Women Wearing Shoulder Pads promise a captivating narrative that’s set in South America, voiced entirely by an all-female cast. While the details of the plot remain under wraps, it’s teased that the series will delve into the protagonist’s journey through love, family, commercials, and, intriguingly, cuyes – the South American guinea pigs.

In addition to this exciting new venture, Adult Swim has more good news for its fans. The network confirmed the renewal of the animated comedy Yolo for a third season, now titled Yolo: Rainbow Trinity. Created by Michael Cusack, the series has garnered a significant following, chronicling the zany escapades of two best friends in Australia.

Its second season, Yolo: Silver Destiny, which premiered earlier this year, was not only a fan favorite but also a ratings powerhouse. The show clinched the second spot in its timeslot across cable, making it a force to be reckoned with in key demographics.

At the time of writing, there is no release date scheduled for Women Wearing Shoulder Pads yet.
