Sony just released the full Uncharted movie cargo plane sequence

As if it wasn't already obvious, the latest clip from the Uncharted live-action adaptation pays full homage to 2011's Uncharted 3.

It appears that Holland just isn't done defying physics with his action sequences just yet.

Sony had an eventful end to 2021 with both Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home and making it big at the global box office. The latter even set the record for Sony’s highest-grossing film of all time after already topping the pandemic-era box office. Hopefully, all that excitement for Sony’s slate of movies will bleed through 2022 with Ruben Fleisher’s Uncharted, which will also star Tom Holland, set to hit theaters.

With only a few weeks to go before Uncharted premieres, Sony has been releasing more and more content from the film to generate hype.

How well will Uncharted do at the global box office?

If Uncharted does well at the global box office, then we might see a sequel adapt a story from one of the games.

Live-action adaptations of popular video game franchises almost always never do well. You could say that video games are just more effective at telling a more interactive and engaging story. But, now and then, a live-action adaptation does enough to win critics and audiences alike over, and make you think that it is possible.

Earlier this year, we rounded up a list of all movies based on video games that defied expectations, and judging by the looks of it, Uncharted could do just that.

Tom Holland’s latest blockbuster doesn’t see him suiting up and fighting aliens or multiversal villains, among others. Instead, he takes on the role of Nathan Drake, which was originally offered to Mark Wahlberg (don’t worry, Marky Mark’s still in the film). But, just because Nathan Drake isn’t Spider-Man, it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have a couple of tricks up his sleeve.

As the clip above will show you, the still-neophyte Drake (the upcoming movie is set before the events of the Uncharted video games ) is pretty limber as he tries to avoid all that cargo flying around while escaping from a group of villains who are out to get him.

Unfortunately, the clip just stops short of revealing if Drake will survive getting hit by a car and tumbling towards Earth. Audiences will just have to wait until Uncharted hits theaters to find out.

The pandemic has been a relatively good time for live-action adaptations of video games. Here's to hoping Uncharted can still benefit from that.

In addition to Tom Holland and Wark Wahlberg, Uncharted will also feature Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle. Antonio Banderas is also going to play the film’s main antagonist. As we’ve already mentioned, the live-action adaptation is a prequel to the video games albeit we’re not quite sure yet if it’s canon to the events of the games.

For now, what’s important is to see if Uncharted does well in theaters, which we’ll find out soon enough on February 18.

In other Uncharted news, PlayStation just gave Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves for the PS5 a release date. The PS5 upgrade for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will come with a voucher code for a ticket for the Uncharted movie as long as the owner secures their copy of the collection before February 3.
