Ever since Suits made an unexpected resurgence four years after airing its final episode, industry pundits have been scratching their heads in amazement and delight. Now, an upcoming spinoff might bring back some of the original cast to cash in on the reborn hype.

Once a staple of the USA Network’s lineup, the American legal drama has found a second wind on Netflix, breaking viewership records as if it were nobody’s business. As a result, NBCUniversal has recently begun working on a spinoff series, Suits L.A., promising to take audiences from the high-stakes corporate law battles of New York to the gritty world of entertainment law in Hollywood.

Set to commence pilot filming next month, Suits L.A. has already started generating buzz, thanks in no small part to its promising cast, including Lex Scott Davis and Stephen Amell, who are gearing up to lead this new project.

The prospect of original Suits cast members returning for the spinoff has fans of the original show crossing their fingers and hoping for the best. As first reported by Comicbook.com, Scott Davis teased the possibility in a chat with People, admitting “It’s not impossible… I would love that myself, but we’ll see. You never know.”

Adding to the anticipation, Abigail Spencer, a familiar face from the original series, hinted at a grand reunion of sorts, telling The A.V. Club, “Yes! Every season when I was available, they just kept asking me back,” and suggesting that “anyone in the Suits universe could probably come back through.”

However, let’s not put the cart before the horse. First, there’s the matter of the pilot, a major hurdle that Scott Davis and her co-stars, including Troy Winbush and Josh McDermitt, must clear. With shooting slated for April, Scott Davis asserted her confidence in the show, stating, “Fingers crossed that the pilot gets a series order. But I’m pretty excited. Pretty sure we’ll get our series order, for sure.”

The question on everyone’s lips, though, isn’t just whether Suits L.A. will capture the same magic as its predecessor (though, let’s be honest, that’s a pretty big ask). It’s also who among the original cast will walk through those Hollywood firm doors. Will Harvey Specter’s charm see a new day in the sunny streets of L.A., or will Mike Ross’s genius find a new playground? And let’s not forget Donna; no one navigates drama like she does.

Either way, NBCUniversal knows it’s got a potential goldmine with Suits L.A. that could probably go the distance, much like the original show did.
