Ryan Gosling is trading his shaved legs and bleached hair for more action and stunts in The Fall Guy, an action-comedy film that recently stole everyone’s attention at 2024 Super Bowl following the release of its latest trailer.

Directed by David Leitch, best known for his work The Bullet Train and Deadpool 2, the film promises a high-octane mix of romance, drama, humor, and even a touch of science fiction. But before premiering on May 3, it had to make sure that it gave audiences “everything” they needed.

The trailer throws everything it has at the viewers, from car chases and sword fights to space cowboys and, surprisingly, unicorns. It even throws in a humorous moment of Gosling, a self-proclaimed “Swiftie,” caught crying to Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well.” This unexpected emotional depth adds a layer of vulnerability to his character.

In The Fall Guy, Gosling portrays Colt Seavers, a washed-up stuntman coaxed back into the game by his ex-girlfriend, director Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). Their chemistry crackles amidst the chaos, hinting at a rekindled flame amidst the danger.

Leitch, himself a former stuntman, imbues the film with his firsthand knowledge and respect for the stunt community. Thus, The Fall Guy aims to be more than just action-packed fun; it’s a tribute to the often unseen heroes who make movie magic possible.

Furthermore, the film’s ensemble cast, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Winston Duke, and Stephanie Hsu, adds depth and intrigue to the storyline.

With its mix of romance, action, and science fiction elements, The Fall Guy appears to offer a unique blend of entertainment for a wide range of audiences.

Speaking of Blake Lively, while The Fall Guy turned plenty of heads at Super Bowl 2024, the biggest trailer of the day (and perhaps, the year) was easily Deadpool and Wolverine, which featured her real-life husband, Ryan Reynolds, effectively become Marvel Jesus.
