Nothing is ever truly over in Hollywood. The legal drama TV series Suits aired its final episode in 2019. Yet its popularity has only soared since. This continued popularity might explain why the reports of a spinoff series keep on surfacing, with some members of the original cast expressing interest in returning.
During the 2024 Golden Globe Awards, actors Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams, who portray Harvey Specter and Mike Ross, respectively, were invited as presenters for the awards ceremony. Once they took the stage and began their presentation for the award for Best TV Series Drama, audiences were surprised to see Suits co-stars Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulsen) and Gina Torres (Jessica Pearson) join them onstage.

Troian Bellisario, who made a guest appearance in the show as Claire Bowden, also graced the red carpet event. Macht, Adams, Torres, and Rafferty are part of the main cast that charmed audiences through its nine-season run. Although Adams, Torres, and Meghan Markle (Rachel Zane) departed from the show at the end of the seventh season, the series aired for two more seasons.
Last year, Suits was added to Netflix and Peacock, a move that proved to be very successful for the streaming services. In just a single week, Suits amassed 3.7 billion minutes of viewership, making it the most-watched acquired programming within a week. Shortly after, news emerged that NBCUniversal had commissioned the show’s creator, Aaron Korsh, to develop a new offshoot series.
Sources indicate that the show will be set in the same universe as Suits, but will not be a prequel or spin-off series. Instead, the show will tell a whole new story set in Los Angeles and feature an entirely new cast. All the same, viewers shouldn’t be too surprised to see familiar faces return, if even for a cameo.
Adams hasn’t ruled out the idea of reprising his role in the upcoming series. Speaking to Variety on the Golden Globes Pre-Show, the 42-year-old actor playfully hinted at a potential return, stating, “Sure, Mike and Rachel in Seattle, they gotta come down to L.A. and fix some stuff.”
Meghan Markle, who is now a member of the British Royal family after her marriage to Prince Harry, retired from acting in 2018. Though she has since immersed herself in charity and philanthropic work, Markle has maintained that she has no intentions of return to acting. However, the fact that she has previously expressed how much she enjoyed her time in Suits means there’s a probable set of events that could make her change her mind.

Though a Suits reunion might not happen in a revival, there’s a possibility of familiar faces making a return in the L.A.-based series. Keep your eyes peeled.
All nine seasons of Suits are available to stream on Netflix and Peacock.
