Amazon is ramping up production on its highly anticipated Spider-Man Noir television series by enlisting The Punisher’s Steve Lightfoot as co-showrunner. Lightfoot joins Oren Uziel, who will serve as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer.
Lightfoot brings a wealth of experience to the project, having served as showrunner and executive producer on several successful shows. His most notable work includes Netflix’s The Punisher, but he has also contributed to acclaimed series like Narcos, Hannibal, Transporter: The Series, and Behind Her Eyes.
Lightfoot, who also writes the shows he produces, will lend his expertise in crafting a compelling narrative for the next Spider-Man series. His extensive experience as a showrunner on high-profile projects undoubtedly influenced Amazon’s decision to bring him onboard.
Before Lightfoot’s addition, Uziel was one of four executive producers which included the creators of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and former Sony executive Amy Pascal.
With Lightfoot’s involvement, Amazon’s Spider-Man Noir series brings together five of the most experienced executive producers in Hollywood. If nothing else, this has increased expectations for the show’s quality and potential, especially in light of what the supervising team has accomplished in their individual careers.

Set in 1930s New York City, the Spider-Man Noir series will explore a universe distinct from that of Peter Parker. Instead of following Parker’s story, the series will introduce an older and more seasoned Spider-Man, continuing the tradition of the iconic web-slinger’s unwavering commitment to protecting the city that never sleeps.
Spider-Man Noir’s last on-screen appearance was in Sony’s animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, where he was voiced by Nicolas Cage. Many fans would love to see Cage return as the monochromatic Spider-Man in Amazon’s upcoming series. While there’s no official confirmation of that happening, Lord hinted at Cage’s potential involvement during an interview in May.
Spider-Man Noir is one of two confirmed Spider-Man projects in development at Amazon. The other one is Silk: Spider Society, helmed by Angela Kang who was the showrunner of The Walking Dead’s final three seasons. According to the reports, Amazon is exploring additional shows within the Spider-Man universe, but details remain under wraps for now.
Amazon revealed the project in February, but its progress was stunted by the ensuing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. With those now over, fans can expect to witness rapid movement on the show as companies across Hollywood look to ramp up their projects to make up for time lost to the strikes.
Despite the growing anticipation, information about the Spider-Man Noir series remains scarce. Beyond Lightfoot, Uziel, Miller, Lord, and Pascal, there’s no word on other crew members or cast members. However, as production progresses, more details are expected to emerge.
