In a move to elevate the quality of its output again, Marvel is populating its writers’ room for the upcoming Avengers movies with proven individuals. Another writer from the Loki TV series is rumored to be a part of the part of the writing team for The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.

The studio recently confirmed that Michael Waldron would be penning the screenplay for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty after the departure of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness, which may have been the result of that film’s performance.

There are rumors that Loveness’ departure marks a pivot in Marvel’s strategy with the studio veering away from villain-centric movies and focusing more on its superheroes. Waldron will also be the lead writer for Avengers: Secret Wars.

There are reports that Loki Season 2 writer Eric Martin will be joining Waldon in the writers’ room for both films. The rumor was first shared by insider CanWeGetSomeToast on X. The information was corroborated by My Cosmic Circus writer and insider Alex Perez.

Martin served as head writer for Loki Season 2, replacing series showrunner Waldron who penned a majority of the first season. However, Martin recently shared that he had to rewrite a majority of the first season for Loki after Waldron left the project to focus on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Waldron gets a lion’s share of the praise for spearheading the development of the Loki TV series but it may have been Martin’s work in the background that made the show a smashing success both in terms of performance, and reception from fans and critics alike.

Now that Waldron and Martin are involved with both Avengers films, we expect that the movies will have a uniform feel similar to Infinity Wars and Endgame which were written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and directed by the Russo brothers.

Insiders believe it was Eric Martin's work with Loki that made the show successful.

It will be interesting what Waldron and Martin have planned for The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. We expect that the duo would flesh out Kang the Conqueror’s story, given their experience with the character in Loki. Disney has also recently said that storytelling will be at the heart of its upcoming project so we do expect both films to focus on storylines rather than big action sequences.

Marvel is reportedly planning an Endgame-style sequence where all the superheroes in the Multiverse are pulled into an epic battle with the army of Kang. There are recent reports that Deadpool may be the catalyst that will bring together the mightiest heroes in the Multiverse Saga.

We may be seeing a new team of Avengers in The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars as Chris Evans recently shot down rumors of the original team reuniting for the upcoming movies. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is scheduled for May 1, 2026, while Secret Wars is coming to theaters on May 7, 2027.
