For more than a year, there has been plenty of chatter regarding the rumored smorgasbord of cameos in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Deadpool 3. One of the most prevalent ones is Taylor Swift.
The speculations started when observant fans pointed out that the house Ryan Reynolds announced the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was the same house used for Swift’s award-winning music video, All Too Well: The Short Film.
What’s further fueling speculation is Swift recently being spotted with Reynolds and Jackman alongside Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool 3. The foursome were spotted together at an NFL game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Jets added more fuel to this speculative fire.

When questioned about the possibility of Swift’s cameo, particularly as the character Dazzler – a mutant with the ability to convert sound into light beams and energy – Levy was notably elusive. He commented on the passionate calls from a horde of Swifties, saying, “They sure are loud.” But Levy refused to either confirm or deny the rumor, simply saying, “I’m going across the board. ‘No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related. I’m no dummy. You’re going to have to wait and see.” Given the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s reputation for closely guarded secrets, Levy’s silence on the matter only heightened the intrigue.
That said, Levy did not hold back in heaping praise upon Swift in the same interview with The Wrap. Having previously worked with her on “All Too Well: The Short Film”, in which he played the character of Sadie Sink’s father, he compared Swift to the iconic filmmaker, Steven Spielberg. Levy hailed Swift as a “generational voice and creative force” within the entertainment world.
Levy singled out the depth and clarity of Swift’s creative vision, whether it pertains to songwriting, video production, or any other creative endeavor, as proof of her potential as a director in the future.

The world of superhero movies is not new to exciting surprises. With the multiverse narrative on the horizon, the third installment of Deadpool, under the direction of Levy, is expected to be replete with character returns and cameos that’s beyond anything seen in previous Marvel films. Whether or not this includes Swift remains to be seen.
Adding to this, Swift’s recent monumental success in Hollywood is becoming harder to ignore. Her concert film, Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, has not only topped box offices but has set the record as the highest-grossing concert film of all time. With its opening weekend earnings surpassing $97 million, it eclipsed the entire theatrical run of 2011’s Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.
As for Deadpool 3, the project recently had to pause its production due to the ongoing Hollywood actors’ strike. As per Levy, work on the film is already halfway through and they’re eager to resume. The strike has put the initial release date of May 3, 2024, at potential risk, but now that it’s over, it might just make it in time.

Considering Marvel’s history of intertwining musical artistry with its cinematic narratives, as exemplified by the casting of Harry Styles in Eternals, the prospect of Taylor Swift joining the MCU feels both innovative and unsurprising. With her monumental global presence, the inclusion of Swift in Deadpool 3 would be a massive boost to the relatively “struggling” multi-billion cinematic universe.
