Marvel’s new Hawkeye spin-off series Echo is slated for release in January 2024. New plot details reveal that Kingpin will be part of the series.
Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin was last seen in Hawkeye with Maya Lopez. In the sequence, Maya can be seen pointing a gun at the crime boss and can be heard firing a shot off-screen. Many fans assumed that it would be the end of Kingpin in the MCU. But, new plot details for Echo have been spotted by eagle-eyed fans ahead of its release early next year.
The synopsis for the pilot episode of the upcoming series was submitted by Marvel to the U.S. Copyright Catalog and it hints at Wilson Fisk’s return in the TV show.
Marvel Studios presents “Echo” in which Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) struggles to reconnect with her Native American roots while balancing aspirations tied to a life of crime as successor to the brutal legacy of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) aka Kingpin.
In the first episode, we are introduced to Maya Lopez and her struggles.”

Additionally, D’Onofio’s Kingpin received second billing in the pilot just after Echo’s star Alaqua Cox. This suggests that Wilson Fisk may have a big role, at least in the series premiere.
It would make sense for Echo to pick up where Hawkeye ended. The pilot episode also supports the D23 Expo reveal of Echo, which showed Kingpin sporting a bandage over his gunshot wound. In the reveal, Kingpin says to Maya, “It’s been a long time.”
The synopsis suggests that Kingpin may have lost control of his criminal empire during the end of Hawkeye. Maya may have already gained command of the Tracksuit Mafia during the interim. It will be interesting to see if Maya does end up replacing Kingpin in the series or ends up going against the syndicate.
However, we would expect Echo and Kingpin to be at odds during the series given their history. It will be interesting to see if the crime boss would try and retake his criminal empire and further his ambitions in New York City. There have been rumors that Wilson Fisk aspires to become mayor of the city in the MCU.
Kingpin will also be a part of Daredevil: Born Again which is slated to come out after Echo. The upcoming Echo series may be a bridge between Hawkeye and the new Daredevil series. This makes Echo an important part of the MCU timeline and a must-watch show for fans looking for continuity.
Echo is coming to Disney+ in January 2024.
