We are just a few days away from the release of Part 2 of The Witcher Season 3. This means that we have to say goodbye to Henry Cavill and welcome his replacement, Liam Hemsworth. After intense fan backlash, those close to the production claim Hemsworth looks fitting after all.
Netflix is already working towards the future of the series. Season 4 will be the debut of Hemsworth as the new Geralt of Rivia after the departure of Cavill from the series. While many fans haven’t fully embraced Hemsworth as the new lead actor, one of the show’s producers has teased that the actor looks great in the role.
In an interview with Express Online, executive producer Tomek Baginski said that Hemsworth looks “awesome” as Geralt in the upcoming season. “One thing I can tell is I’ve already seen [Liam] in Witcher makeup,” Baginski shared. And in the Witcher look. And he looks awesome.”
It will likely be a while before we see Hemsworth as Geralt. Netflix is still promoting Cavill’s final season as the monster hunter and the company will likely continue marketing the actor as part of the series for a bit longer, at least until several months after the end of season 3.
The topic of Hemsworth succeeding Cavill as Geralt of Rivia has also been a touchy subject for fans. Many were upset that Cavill’s tenure in the show is coming to an end and blamed Netflix for letting the actor depart from the series.
Netflix will likely avoid any teaser involving Hemsworth until the next season is almost ready for release. Many fans have already said that they will be boycotting the series after Cavill’s departure. Some fans even petitioned the streaming giant to reinstate the actor as Geralt.
Interestingly Hemsworth was one of the top choices for the role back in 2018. However, producers opted to cast Cavill for the role instead. Now, Hemsworth will have that opportunity to take on the role, and some fans have said that they will be willing to give the actor a chance.
The showrunners reportedly have already created a plan on how to introduce Hemsworth as the new Geralt. The show may use some sort of multiverse plot where Ciri gets transported to an alternate realm where Hemsworth is the resident Geralt.
