The Walking Dead has proven to be one of the most lucrative television franchises. The original show ran for 11 seasons between 2010 and 2022 with the final episode making its debut last November. It has also spawned five spinoffs, including the upcoming The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
Ahead of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’s premiere in a few days, AMC has unveiled a teaser that shows the titular character journeying through Paris. The trailer opens with Daryl looking into the distance. He is on a boat on what we assume is the River Seine given we can see the famed Eiffel Tower in the background.
Next, we see a close-up shot of the Eiffel Tower, which confirms our suspicion. In keeping with what we have seen across The Walking Dead universe, the tower is battered and in such a huge state of disrepair that it evokes imaginations of a collapse.
We also hear Dixon saying, “My name’s Daryl Dixon. If I don’t make it back, I want ’em to know I tried.”
At 15 seconds long, the teaser hardly gives us a glimpse of the upcoming show. However, we expect AMC to release a full-length trailer at the San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 21, that will give us a better insight into what we can expect from the series.
From the logline, we know that Daryl didn’t end up in France of his own volition and the series will chronicle his struggle to get back home. Fans can look forward to a detailed look at how the zombie outbreak affected other countries around the world.
The logline reads, “Daryl washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.”

For this spinoff, Norman Reedus returns as the titular character and is supported by Clémence Poésy, Adam Nagaitis, Anne Charrier, Eriq Ebouaney, Laika Blanc Francard, Romain Levi, and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, among others.
When it premieres, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will be the second spinoff of the franchise to debut this year after The Walking Dead: Dead City which arrived last month. Online discourse had already drifted towards franchise fatigue complaints before the main show ended, so we’re curious to see how this saturation tactic works out for the studio.
Up next, the studio will release The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira’s characters. The show, which will be a limited series with six episodes, is currently in development and will arrive at an unannounced date next year.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere on AMC on Sunday, September 10 at 9 p.m. ET. The first season will have six episodes and, depending on its success, might be renewed for a further season.
