WIT Studio sets its sights on expanding the DC anime universe

If Wit Studio nails it like it did with Attack on Titan, the DC anime universe will be the next big thing in the comic books universe.

Wit Studio, a powerhouse in the world of anime, has made a name for itself with masterpieces like Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga. Now, the acclaimed Japanese studio is venturing into new territory by creating a DC Comics anime series, Suicide Squad Isekai, which the studio hopes will be the beginning of many more.

As reported by Comicbook.com, Wit Studio President George Wada expressed interest in diving deeper into the world of DC Comics characters through anime shows during the recent Anime Expo 2023.

Warner Bros. first introduced the caped crusader into the anime universe with 2008’s Batman: Gotham Knight, followed by 2018’s Batman Ninja. While crossovers between comics and manga are rare, many manga authors have admitted that they draw inspiration from American superhero characters.

Now that Harley Quinn, The Joker, and Amanda Waller is joining the list of DC characters receiving an anime adaptation, we can’t help but wonder if Wit Studio has Superman on their radar. After all, since his debut in 1938, Superman has been a comic book sensation, selling over 600 million copies.

As the ultimate superhero archetype, it’s only fitting that Wit Studio leap into creating an anime series centered around the invincible Last Son of Krypton.

Wit Studio developed the first three seasons of Attack on Titan.

No other Wit Studio projects in the DC universe have been announced as of now, but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop with any updates that come our way.
