After many months of speculation, Prime Video has reportedly renewed the Chris Pratt-led The Terminal List for a second season. In addition, the streamer signed off on a prequel that will star Taylor Kitsch in the lead role and feature Pratt in minor roles.
This news comes courtesy of a Deadline report, which also revealed that Pratt suggested expanding the series with the prequel show during conversations.
Following its release last July, the action thriller television series received mixed to negative reviews from critics. However, this didn’t deter viewers who streamed 1.1 billion minutes of it in its first week. The show also climbed up to No. 2 on Nielsen’s weekly streaming charts and scored a 94% approval rating on the review site Rotten Tomatoes. Given its performance, many fans have clamored for renewal but to no avail.
Prime Video hasn’t officially announced the shows. However, Pratt and Jack Carr, who authored the books the series is based on, have always maintained that a second season will happen. During a discussion on Carr’s podcast Danger Close in September, Pratt stated “To the rabid fans of The Terminal List out there, you have nothing to worry about. We love you and appreciate your support. It’s our life’s mission to make sure you can come back to the well. We are working away.” To Pratt’s comment, Carr added, “There may be some cool stuff on the horizon being discussed.”
Besides, Amazon executive Vernon Sanders recently promised an exciting announcement about The Terminal List season 2, which further lends credence to the report.

The series chronicles the life of Navy Seal Lieutenant James Reece on his quest to avenge his family’s murder after he returns from an overseas tour that resulted in the death of his fellow SEAL team members. He discovers the two events are linked and must battle some of the most powerful people in the country who don’t want him to reveal their dirty secrets.
The Terminal List starred Pratt as James Reece and Taylor Kitsch as his best friend Ben Edwards. Other members of the show’s cast include Constance Wu, Riley Keough, Arlo Mertz, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Nick Chinlund, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Matthew Rauch. David DiGilio created the show. He also doubled as an executive producer alongside Pratt, Carr, Antoine Fuqua, Jon Schumacher, David Auge, and Daniel Shattuck.
Given that Pratt’s character killed off most of the other characters as retribution in the show’s first season, there is no telling who might return for the second season apart from him. However, more information should come to light the further along the show’s development gets.
By the way, Pratt has two high-profile projects on the way in 2023. The actor will reprise his role as Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and voice the titular character in Super Mario Bros. Movie. The films are set to arrive in theaters on May 5 and April 7.
