David Harbour has revealed he would love to play Red Guardian more in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor made this revelation during a recent interview, where he discussed some of his biggest acting credits in Violent Night, Stranger Things, and Thunderbolts.

Speaking about the character to TotalFilm, Harbour stated that he really likes him (Red Guardian). The Stranger Things actor also talked about his fellow characters in Thunderbolts and revealed he is really looking forward to the film.

When asked if he has any interest in reprising his role as Red Guardian, Harbour had the following to say, “I do. I love Red Guardian. I can’t wait to pull back the layers. The great thing about him is that he’s not very well-defined in the comics, like some of the other Marvel superheroes. So we can play with him in a different way, and be surprising and unexpected.”

Harbour made his MCU debut as Alexei Shostasko, also known as Red Guardian, in the 2021 film Black Widow. His character was the father to Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. He and Pugh will reprise their roles in the upcoming film Thunderbolts.
