Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the best animated television series ever. When it debuted in 2005, it wasted no time before it wormed its way into our hearts and filled us with anticipation for new episodes every week for years. Because of its popularity, it found its way into other media, including comics and gaming. Asides its own games, the show’s characters have also appeared in other titles such as Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
GameMill Entertainment is getting ready to release the second installment of the platform brawler. Ahead of this, the developer released a roster of the characters that will appear and it includes one of Avatar’s most villainous characters Azula.
One of the best-written villains ever, Azula isn’t the only Avatar character that will appear in Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2. The villain we love to hate will share the proverbial ring with the unhatable protagonist, Avatar Aang. This is Aang’s second appearance in the series after debuting in the first title in 2021.
GameMill Entertainment released a trailer of the game. In it, we see Azula as her usual cruel self as she takes on the cartoon animals, Ren and Stimpy. We also see her fighting style, aggressive as ever, as well as her incredible ability with firebending and lightning. Even better, we hear some of her memorable quotes from the show, including, “I’ll enjoy your suffering,” “I’ll show you lightning,” “Do you fear fire? ‘Cause you should!” and many more.
Azula’s introduction to Nickelodeon All Star Brawl is certainly big news, one that already has fans buzzing for the game. We think it is a stroke of genius on the studio’s part because her eccentricity will provide much-needed contrast to other characters, like Ren and Stimpy, and make the game even more fun.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is the sequel to the 2021 crossover fighting game of the same name. It will feature 25 playable characters, like the original. However, it will replace 14 of the original title’s characters with new ones, including Gerald from Hey Arnold, Jimmy Neutron, Plankton and Squidward from SpongeBob SquarePants, and Raphael and Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
From what we’ve seen, the upcoming game shares many similarities with the original albeit with a few differences. The most striking difference we’ve seen is in the gameplay. The new title has several new mechanics that weren’t present in the original, including dodge rolling and aerial dodging. We’ve also noticed that the characters’ movesets have been revised.
There are other features that are just as incredible and they make us very excited for its release later this year, including super abilities and voice acting. The first title set the bar quite high and if the sequel offers anything as close, it will be a great success.
Speaking of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Netflix recently provided an update on its live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series. The show will arrive next year and will take us back to the world and story that formed a big part of our childhood.
