XDefiant will be released on or before March 2024

Ubisoft confirmed the release date of the upcoming free-to-play shooter that's been labeled as a potential rival to Call of Duty.

If Ubisoft plays its cards right, it could potentially have a Call of Duty killer with XDefiant.

Move over Call of Duty and Overwatch 2, there's a new free-to-play shooter in town, and people might prefer it over what's already available.

XDefiant, Ubisoft's in-development arena shooter, recently received a ton of praise from early previews with some going as far as to name it heir apparent to the throne long held by Call of Duty. With such high praise from usually stingy fans, you'd best bet that everyone is wondering when this potentially game-changing shooter is coming out.

Now, Ubisoft has released its latest earnings report and it contains excellent news regarding XDefiant.

According to the French publisher, XDefiant is part of its massive eight-game lineup for this fiscal year, which is headlined by Assassin's Creed: Mirage. Most likely, XDefiant will launch at any point between now and March 31, 2024.

Although the exact launch window isn't revealed yet, the anticipation is already high in the gaming community.

We're just hoping that Ubisoft doesn't milk XDefiant dry when it comes out.

XDefiant offers a unique blend of gunplay and personalized playstyle. Moreover, it allows players to play as some of their favorite factions from other best-selling Ubisoft titles such as Ghost Recon (Wolves), Splinter Cell (Echelon), as well as The Division (Outcasts and Cleaners). Ubisoft is also planning to add factions from other titles like Watch Dogs and Far Cry.

In addition to the playable characters, XDefiant lets players customize their load-outs to better suit their playstyle, adding more strategic depth to the game.

Ubisoft is smart to leverage its popular titles like The Division, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon. If the recent feedback is to go by, XDefiant is set to be another hit.

As XDefiant isn't expected to come out anytime soon, fans can look forward to seeing Ubisoft host multiple beta periods.

For now, the Ubisoft Forward live stream on June 12 should provide more information about Ubisoft's plans for this fiscal year.
