The latest WWE 2K22 trailer showcases "MyFaction" and "MyRise"

For the first time in two decades, WWE did not have an annual video game, but WWE 2K22 promises to return the series to its former glory.

The WWE 2K series was one of the annual mainstays in the video game industry - until it wasn't. For 2021, Visual Concepts and 2K Sports decided to skip the yearly entry for the first time after the lackluster sales and reviews that WWE 2K20 got. Instead, 2K sports published WWE 2K Battlegrounds, which is a more arcade-style take on video game wrestling as opposed to the more realistic WWE 2K entries.

WWE 2K22 is the best-looking WWE 2K game yet and it's not even close.

Thankfully, WWE 2K's absence wasn't for long. Earlier this year, 2K sports announced WWE 2K22 at Wrestlemania 37 before more details about the upcoming title popped up, including information about the game's rebuilt engine, which is the highlight of the brand new trailer for WWE 2K22.

Here's everything you need to know about all of the new things that are coming to WWE 2K22.

Redesigned gameplay engine

WWE 2K22 is the most visually improved WWE 2K game to date and we're not just saying that because it's the newest one to release. Visual Concepts outdid themselves with how realistic WWE 2K22 looks based on the trailer. As they explained a few months ago, the studio rebuilt the game's engine from the ground up to make every move in WWE 2K22 feel as if you are right there and part of the action.

More intuitive controls

Visual Concepts made sure that WWE 2K22 didn't just look as realistic as possible, but that the gameplay also reflected the improved visuals. For WWE 2K22, Visual Concepts updated the control scheme to make feel more intuitive and natural. But, at the same time, the controls were designed so that new gamers can just pick up and play the game right away with no problems.

A brand new WWE 2K showcase

This brand new feature lets players relieve a legendary WWE Superstar's most iconic moments in the right and feel as if they were part of history.

If you've ever thought that you've got what it takes to run one of the most successful brands in sports entertainment, then WWE 2K22 has just the mode for you. MyGM will let you draft superstars, manage contracts, and book matches, as well as make sure that your show is the best on the planet.

Factions are what made the WWE. From the nWo, D-Generation X, Evolution, and more, the storylines stemming from each legendary faction are what kept fans tuned in to the WWE for years. For the first time in the WWE 2K series, WWE 2K22 will let you build your own faction. This means that you'll have to find and manage your Superstars, as well as book them their weekly events, among others.

WWE 2K22 has a game mode where you can experience the journey of going from a WWE rookie to becoming a future Hall of Famer.

What other things can players expect from WWE 2K22?

Judging by the trailer alone, it appears that delaying WWE 2K22 was all worth it.

In addition to what we've already mentioned, WWE 2K22 will also bring "Universe Mode" back but with more controls than ever before. Meanwhile, the "Creation Suite" will also return to give players a chance to bring their imagination to life.

Unfortunately, as much as we'd love to get our hands on WWE 2K22 soon, Visual Concepts and 2K Sports had no choice but to delay the game, much to the WWE's disappointment. Instead of the original October 2021 release date, WWE 2K22 will launch in March 2022.
