The forthcoming action role-playing game Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, from Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja, has a new trailer that depicts a fight sequence with one of the title’s big bad named Aoye. The trailer follows an initial gameplay demo trailer released last year that showed off the title’s combat.
According to the description which accompanied the trailer, "Aoye is a fictional creature that appears in the ancient Chinese text Shan Hai Jing, also known as Classic of Mountains and Seas. It is described as a bull-like being with long hair reminiscent of a straw rain-cape."
The trailer is almost five minutes long and showcases one of the early battles players will encounter in the game. The battle is intense and hard, with the giant beast, Aoye, able to deal severe damage with its attacks. Aoye’s weapons are its long hair and menacing tentacles which will quickly drain the player’s health bar if they can’t escape from them fast enough. The monster can also attack with ice spikes that will weaken the player and hasten their demise.
Over the course of the trailer, the playable character dies several times with the message seemingly that Aoye is tough to beat. Eventually, with a combination of agility, fast attacks, and a dependable halberd, he defeats the monster.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is set in China’s Later Han Dynasty during the Three Kingdoms Era. The game’s description reads, "The land is overcome by chaos and destruction. The imperial dynasty that prospered for many years is now about to collapse." Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will follow a nameless militia soldier as he fights for his life against demons and enemy soldiers. The militia soldier will rely on Chinese swordplay and try to overcome his adversities "by awakening the true power from within."
By the way, the title was recently rated Mature+ by the ESRB. The rating signifies that the game features blood, gore, and violence, as well as in-game purchases.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is slated for release on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Windows platforms on March 3. The game will also be available on the Xbox Game Pass from the very first day.
