What else do we know about Wonka?

It's crazy to think that Chalamet only started acting in 2012.

It wasn't too long ago that Warner Bros. confirmed that production on the film had already begun. At the same time, the studio announced the cast members of the film. In addition to Chalamet, the upcoming prequel movie will feature an ensemble cast, including:

  • Rowan Atkinson
  • Keegan Michael-Key
  • Jim Carter
  • Mathew Baynton
  • Olivia Colman
  • Tom Davis
  • Simon Farnaby
  • Rich Fulcher
  • Sally Hawkins
  • Kobna Holdbrook-Smith
  • Paterson Joseph
  • Calah Lane
  • Matt Lucas
  • Colin O'Brien
  • Natasha Rothwell
  • Rakhee Thakrar
  • Ellie White

At the helm of the film is the director, Paul King, who is best known for directing both Paddington films, among others.

Chalamet will be just the third actor to take on the iconic role of Willy Wonka. He's also the first one to portray a younger version of Wonka in a prequel to Roald Dahl's 1964 novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The other two actors, Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp, have all enjoyed equally illustrious careers before, during, and after portraying Willy Wonka in theaters.

It's not as if Chalamet is short on awards though. As we've already mentioned, the 25-year-old actor has several wins to his name. With Wonka, Chalamet has a chance to prove his acting chops once again. In the meantime, fans can catch Chalamet in the upcoming film, Dune, where he stars as Paul Atreides.
