Analysing available consumer data, the gaming industry is doing extremely well.
Mat Piscatella, from the NPD Group, recently took to Twitter to share the findings of his company on how consumers in the video game sector spent their money.
Total hardware spending has jumped up to $401M, a 112% increase compared to June 2020.
There's no denying that the popularity of video game hardware comes as a result of the release of the Xbox Series S/X and the PS5, which continue to sell well despite the shortage.
The Xbox Series X made the highest dollar sales figures in June compared to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.
Another interesting thing about the data from Piscatella is how well games have been selling recently.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart might not be the best game in its series, as per our rankings, but it did achieve "the highest launch month dollar sales of any title in franchise history.
Analysts expect the sales of the next-gen consoles to continue improving.
