Lucasfilm recently released a new trailer The Mandalorian’s upcoming third season and in just 24 hours, it garnered over 83.5 million views.
With this number, it now holds the record for the most viewed trailer for a Star Wars series beating the previous holder, Obi-Wan Kenobi, which had over 58 million views within its first 24 hours by more than 25 million.
Lucasfilm had earlier released a poorly received teaser, which wasn't well-received by series fans, likely because of leaks.
This performance led to many observers to suggest that the season’s prolonged absence – the final episode of the second season aired well over two years ago on December 18, 2020 – has led to dwindled interest.
The new trailer’s performance has put all doubts to bed since a record viewership number means fans are still interested in the Pedro Pascal-led show.
The Mandalorian Season 3 will premiere on March 1.
