Fortnite has been very successful with its collaboration events. The battle royale recently had crossover events with Destiny 2 and Fall Guys.
The success of such collaborations has caught the attention of Blizzard executives who want to explore such a business model now that Overwatch 2 is free-to-play.
John Spector, vice president of Overwatch, recently expressed his interest in looking at collaborations with brands.
He said that they are looking into the Overwatch 2 space and will be looking for collaborations that will be a great fit for the franchise.
Overwatch has previously had crossover events albeit only with other Blizzard titles such as StarCraft, Warcraft, and Diablo.
There is a lot of potential with Overwatch 2 and it will be exciting to see how they expand crossovers beyond Blizzard titles.
