2017's xXx: The Return of Xander Cage grossed $346 million worldwide against an $85 million budget, which all but guaranteed a sequel.

It also doesn't hurt that there's been talks of a potential sequel for years now.

Unfortunately, it appears that things are not as straightforward.

A few years ago, Vin Diesel's production company, One Race Films, announced that it had partnered with The H Collective.

The move would've given Vin Diesel full rights to future xXx installments.

Since he had more creative freedom now, many expected a sequel to happen.

The problem is that there are several factors in play preventing this from happening.

In addition to the COVID-19 pandemic, The H Collective is currently facing a lawsuit.

Not to mention, Vin Diesel's schedule is packed, so it'll be a while before the fourth xXx film begins production.

The good news is that there's plenty of Vin Diesel to go around.

Fans can watch the Hollywood actor star in Fast and Furious 10 in April 2023.

Diesel also talked up the possibility of a new Riddick game and film happening in the future.

TLDR; fans shouldn't expect the fourth xXx film to happen anytime soon.
