Horizon Forbidden West officially delayed to 2022
By Ray Ampoloquio August 25, 2021
Horizon Forbidden West was supposed to be PlayStation's big fall 2021 exclusive - until it wasn't.
Forbidden West has officially been postponed and will release at a later date.
Instead of a fall 2021 launch, Forbidden West will release on February 2022.
Forbidden West has to be one of the most hyped games in recent years.
Now that the delay has been confirmed, we can't help but wonder why Guerilla took so long.
The reason appears to be partly COVID-19 pandemic and partly the fallout resulting from the fiasco surrounding Cyberpunk 2077.
With the delay of Forbidden West now confirmed, we can't help but wonder about the fate of the God of War sequel.
We speeculate that Sony is going to push the next God of War game from 2022 to 2023.
Otherwise, it would feel awfully counterproductive to release two of PlayStation's biggest action-adventure titles in the same year.
What is perhaps the most prominent issue here is the lack of current-gen games.
Forbidden West looked the part of a PS5 title even if it was also going to release on the PS4.
It's nice that some PS4 games get upgrades when you play them on the PS5.
However, it would've been better to have a true PS5 game outside of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
At this rate, it won't be until 2023 or 2024 when we start seeing games finally take advantage of what the PS5 can offer.
