Fortnite becomes the first Unreal Engine 5 game on the market with Chapter 3

By Ray Ampoloquio December 5, 2021

Epic Games first unveiled Unreal Engine 5 last 2020.

Despite this, no game that's currently out on the market has been using Unreal Engine 5 - until now.

After using Unreal Engine 4 ever since first launching the game back in 2017, Epic has now fully transitioned Fortnite to Unreal Engine 5.

The move comes just in time as Epic released Season 1 of Fortnite Chapter 3, which introduces several massive changes to the game's island and closes the chapter (pun intended) to the game's previous season.

Fortnite should now run and look better on the same hardware with better effects and extra detail if played on more capable PCs.

Audiences can already check out some of the changes with the migration to Unreal Engine 5 right now.

Fortnite Chapter 3's first trailer does an excellent job showing off how much better Fortnite looks now.

Of course, the best way to see these changes is to have a look at it yourself by playing Fortnite.

Season 1 of Fortnite Chapter 3 is expected to last until March 2022.
