Firaxis Games reveal Marvel's Midnight Suns gameplay
By Ray Ampoloquio September 1, 2021
After working on the XCOM and Civilization titles, Firaxis Games now has its attention on a more superhero-centric game.
However, because this is still a Firaxis title, Marvel's Midnight Suns will feature a turn-based combat system with cards in play.
In Marvel's Midnight Suns, the players will take on the role of The Hunter.
Their goal is to hunt down their mother, who is also the queen of demons, Lilith.
Similar to XCOM, players will have access to their own base of operations in Marvel's Midnight Suns.
The Abbey is a cathedral-like establishment that plays host to several heroes from different Marvel factions.
As these heroes come with their own unique abilities, players will have to learn what they are capable of and which abilities to upgrade.
As revealed during the live stream, Marvel's Midnight Suns will feature a card system in place of the ability hotkeys used in the XCOM games.
We can also see how the environments of Marvel's Midnight Suns feel and look a lot smaller compared to the XCOM games.
Yet, at the same time, the game's environments feels alive and is part of the action.
So far, everything we've heard about Marvel's Midnight Suns suggest that it's a terrific game with its own unique flavor.
Save for Marvel's Midnight Suns, there are two other Marvel games that deserve attention.
The first one, Marvel's Avengers, recently saw its War for Wakanda expansion go live.
The second is Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, which is scheduled to release on October 26.
