One of the things that ensured The Last of Us retained its popularity for a long time was its online multiple-player mode, Factions.

So, you can imagine the outrage when Naughty Dog confirmed that it wasn't going to include a multiplayer mode for the sequel.

Now, dataminers have found definitive proof that Naughty Dog had other plans for The Last of Us Part II.

The game files do not explicitly confirm that Naughty Dog planned for a battle royale mode.

Instead, what they found is a large aggregate map composed of multiple single-player locations.

It will be in interesting to see if the rumored standalone multiplayer game by Naughty Dog will have its own battle royale mode.

Here's to hoping that Naughty Dog or Sony sheds more light about its upcoming multiplayer project soon.
