According to Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool is now part of the MCU.

Normally we wouldn't make something out of what would otherwise be a throwaway statement from an actor known for making such jokes.

Following the airing of this TV ad, the 44-year-old Canadian actor confirmed that this means that Deadpool is part of the MCU.

He posted an official statement on Instagram.

This comes after Deadpool had a cameo with MCU's Korg in a TV spot for Reynolds' upcoming film, Free Guy.

If Deadpool 3 will indeed be part of the MCU, it will mark the first time that an MCU movie will be R-rated.

The original plan was for Fox to release an X-Force spinoff after 2018's Deadpool 2, before releasing another Deadpool sequel.

Because of Disney's acquisition of Fox's movie and TV rights, the initial plans for Deadpool 3 have since changed.

According to Marvel Studios, Deadpool 3 will release sometime after its current slate of movies have premiered.
