Leslie Grace and Haley Lu Richardson are contenders in search for Batgirl lead

In case you didn't know, a new female heroine is coming to HBO Max.

The upcoming HBO Max superhero film, Batgirl, is set to revolve around the story of Barbara Gordon.

In the comics and some live-action adaptations, Barbara has taken on the role of Batgirl.

She is the lone constant female member of the so-called Bat-Family that includes Batman, Robin, and Nightwing, among others.

Before she makes her DCEU debut though, the feature film needs to find its Barbara Gordon first.

Reports place Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) as having already tested or are planning to test for the lead role.

Others report that Zoey Deutch (Why Him?) is a contender as well.

According to TheWrap, Leslie Grace and Harley Lu Richardson are also in consideration.

Leslie Grace is an American singer and songwriter who is set to star in the 2021 film adaptation of In the Heights

Harley Lu Richardson is known for her dramatic performances in 2017's Columbus and 2019's Five Feet Apart.

Considering that the film is still looking for its titular heroine, we shouldn't expect Batgirl to premiere anytime soon.
