Battlefield 2042 won't have any ranked modes
By Aron Gerencser August 2, 2021
Battlefield 2042 is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of 2021, ready to square off against this year's still unannounced Call of Duty game.
Ripple Effect Studios isn't planning on pushing the shooter into competitive spaces, as we've learned that it will ship without any kind of ranked mode.
Ranked, competitive or e-sports modes, however you want to call them, give the battles players engage in with one another a more rigid, contest-style structure.
These modes usually serve as the backbone for any kind of official tournaments that are organized around a given game, and are the basis of e-sports matches as well.
Ripple Effect Studios Senior Design Director Justin Wiebe spoke about the team's current lack of plans for any kind of ranked mode being present in Battlefield 2042, or possibly at all.
Wiebe did say that the team is interested in "community feedback" - but don't expect this to mean that a ranked mode will be added if enough fans ask for it.
