Amazon reveals title and premiere date for Lord of the Rings prequel

Amazon Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings prequel series is one of the most highly anticipated shows right now.

On top of a proper premiere date, Prime Video released a short teaser trailer for the upcoming show while also confirming its official title.

Prime Video intends to separate The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power from Peter Jackson's adaptation in many ways.

Aside from being a prequel, The Rings of Power will not bring back any of the actors involved in Jackson's movies.

Case in point, Morfydd Clark will play Galadriel in the Prime Video series instead of Cate Blanchett.

As a prequel, The Rings of Power will take place during Middle-earth's Second Age, which lasted some 3,441 years.

The brief look at The Rings of Power's Galadriel sees audiences read the famous Ring Verse.

In the books, the Dark Lord Sauron rose to power in the Second Age and forged the One Ring to gain lordship over the Elves.

Here's to hoping that Prime Video decides to get a bit more generous with The Rings of Power ahead of its September release.
