Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are close to returning for Murder Mystery 2

By Ray Ampoloquio August 19, 2021

After a series of box office bombs in the late 2000s and early 2010s, Adam Sandler's career has seen a bit of a resurgence on Netflix.

His 2019 film, Uncut Gems, even made it to the National Board of Review's top ten films of 2019.

Now, Sandler is guaranteed another hit as he is set to reprise his role in a sequel to Murder Mystery along with Jennifer Aniston.

Sandler and Aniston might not have won any awards for their roles as husband-and-wife in Murder Mystery.

However, the film was a huge success despite the lack of critical acclaim.

It set a new streaming record for Netflix for original movies back in 2019, which all but guaranteed a sequel.

The film, which was directed by Kyle Newacheck, follows Audrey and Nick.

The a married couple's attempt to try and rekindle their marriage ends up with them being framed for murder.

The two must then prove their innocence by solving the mystery behind the murder.

With a sequel now confirmed, it'll be interesting to see what kind of murder case the two will end up trying to solve.

Perhaps, more importantly, what circumstances led to them trying to solve a murder in the first place.

So far, no plot details about the Murder Mystery sequel have been revealed.

As for when it will premiere, the film locations hint at summer vibes.

Because summer 2021 has already passed, Netflix could be looking at a June 2022 premiere date for Murder Mystery.
