Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0’s DMZ mode will again be getting a big update in season 4. However, the new updates require players’ current mission progress in the extraction shooter mode to be reset as a consequence.
Infinity Ward recently announced that it will reset Faction Mission progress and insured weapon slots. The refresh will also wipe contraband, keys, and mission item inventories in Warzone DMZ.
"Updates will include a refresh and reset like that of Season 02 in order to make room for new Mission sets and the new Upgrade [REDACTED]," Infinity Ward tweeted. "Faction Mission progress will be reset in lieu of the new ability to earn Faction [CLASSIFIED]."
The studio went on to clarify that "earned rewards such as Blueprints, Skins, and Calling Cards will not be affected" by the reset.

Players and content creators have mixed reactions to the upcoming reset for DMZ. The Day 1 players of the popular game mode are not surprised that Infinity Ward will again refresh player progress in DMZ.
This is not the first time that Infinity Ward implemented a reset for Warzone DMZ. The studio previously wiped progress at the start of Season 2. The only difference is that insured weapon slots were not included in the previous wipe.
Some gamers were not happy with the new development, especially more casual players who do not have the luxury of playing the game every day. Players lament the loss of the hours they spent grinding to acquire contraband weapons, skeleton keys, and insured weapon slots when the reset happens.
It takes a significant number of hours to unlock the two additional insured weapon slots even for veteran players and is one of the endgame goals of DMZ players. Some gamers spend over a hundred hours just to complete missions to progress to reach the highest faction tiers.
Infinity Ward explained that it is resetting insured weapon slots as the new season will offer new ways to unlock them. The studio will be revealing more details about it in the coming days.
There are players who support the faction mission progress and inventory reset. For them, resets mean that the studio is going to have a massive overhaul of the game systems that will improve the overall gameplay experience of the mode.
As a result of the new announcement, PVP engagements in DMZ are on the rise. Players are no longer focusing on completing missions as progress will be reset in about two weeks when the season ends.
A number of players in the community feel that Activision should focus on getting rid of pre-made six-man teams in the mode. It is very easy for friends to queue up in the same game lobby and team up to give themselves a massive advantage in PVP engagements. These large teams make it hard for solos, duos, and regular three-man squads to survive in the mode.
Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 is coming on June 14, 2023. Warzone 2 is free-to-play on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
