The grimdark sci-fi universe of Warhammer 40,000 collides with World of Tanks Console, featuring new tanks, new Commanders, Warhammer 40K cosmetics, and a limited time event.
Warhammer 40,000 (aka Warhammer 40K or WH40K among fans) is Games Workshop’s most popular science fantasy setting where the Imperium of Mankind clashes against Orks, Eldar, Necrons, Tyranids, and the very forces of Chaos. Beginning as a tabletop miniatures game, the Warhammer 40K franchise has since expanded to board games, roleplaying games, novels, and video games. WH40K has also crossed over with other franchises, such as Magic: The Gathering through a Universes Beyond set.
But what does the dark future of Warhammer 40000 bring to Wargaming.net’s World of Tanks Console? Read on for the details.
On April 27, 2023, the World of Tanks Console crossover with Warhammer 40K was announced as part of the current Gladiators epic season.

During the community event, World of Tanks Console players will have the opportunity to acquire Warhammer 40000-themed content. Foremost of these are the various tanks inspired by the different factions from the WH40K setting: The Sisters of Battle Ignis Purgatio (Escalation era Independents Medium Tank), Ultramarines Nemesis (Mercenary Tier X Tank Destroyer), Space Orks Teefbreaka (Mercenary Tier IX Light Tank), Chaos forces’ Reaper’s Scythe (Mercenary Tier VIII Medium Tank), and the Astra Militarum’s Leman Russ (Mercenary Tier X Heavy Tank).
Aside from these tanks, players can also enlist Commanders from the Warhammer 40K universe. Two 3D Commanders represent the Imperial forces: Volusad Thassius of the Imperial Space Marines and Patricia Laserian of the Sisters of Battle. Each can be bought for 4,000 Gold. These 3D Hero Commanders have 3 open Skill Slots and have a +30% bonus XP rate, and have unique voiceovers.
Volusad Thassius and Patricia Laserian are also available as 2D Commanders, as well as Natalestra Aspais. Plus, there are three more 2D Commanders that represent the Enemies of Mankind: Kroglin da Facegrinda from the Orks faction and Dolgoth Sepk and Fecrustus Spute of the Chaos Space Marines faction. As standard Commanders in World of Tanks Console, they have one open Skill Slot and earn XP normally. Each Warhammer 40K 2D Commander can be bought for 500,000 Silver.
Other WH40K content for the event include Emblems and Insignias specific to each faction. In addition, there are also Store Bundles available, which allows players to buy the Warhammer 40K premium content at reduced prices.
Players who prefer to earn the Warhammer 40,000 content will have the opportunity during the month-long mission event. The two-stage community event will allow players to choose either the Sisters of Battle (Adepta Sororitas) or the Space Marines (Adeptus Astartes). Earning points can be done by defeating the Orks during the first stage. The second stage will be battles against the forces of Chaos. Using tanks aligned with their faction (such as the Sisters of Battle’s Ignis Purgatio or the Space Marines’ Nemesis) will earn bonus points.
The World of Tanks Console crossover is part of a year-long marketing push as Games Workshop is set to release the highly-anticipated Warhammer 40,000 10th Edition rules.
Note that the Warhammer 40K event and tie-in content such as tanks, Commanders, and cosmetics are only available for the World of Tanks Console version of the game (aka World of Tanks Modern Armor), which can be played on Sony Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Microsoft Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
The Warhammer 40,000 event in World of Tanks Console will be running from May 2nd (10:01 UTC) to June 6th (08:59 UTC), 2023.
