Universal boss would love to do an all-female Fast & Furious film

The MCU's Brie Larson is believed to be at the center of the proposed Fast and Furious spin-off.

The Fast and Furious franchise's quarter-mile journey is finally coming to an end.

Universal Boss Would Love All Female Fast Film
Brie Larson could lead the next batch of Fast and Furious films after her expected exit from the MCU.

The main series will conclude two movies from now and the beginning of the end will start with Fast X. But, while the series is nearing the finish line, it doesn't mean that its cinematic universe will cease to exist as well. For one, there's still the Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson-led spin-off series, Hobbs & Shaw, albeit that one won't go past its upcoming sequel. On top of this, Universal Filmed Entertainment Group head, Donna Langley, recently expressed her desire to have an all-female movie made.

Here's what Langley had to say in an interview with Business Insider:

I would love to see a female Fast, so would Vin [Diesel]. We have so many great and amazing female characters in our franchise and now there's the new addition of Brie Larson to add to the incredible roster. I would love to see us do a female Fast.

As Langley points out, the Captain Marvel star is joining Fast X along with other big names such as Jason Momoa, Rita Moreno, and Alan Ritchson.

Universal Boss Would Love All Female Fast Film
Regardless of what happens with the all-female Fast film, we're hoping that it brings back Helen Mirren.

Of course, an all-female Fast and Furious spin-off will have to wait for at least the next half-decade. The cast and crew are currently busy filming Fast X, which only recently got its official name. Fast X was supposed to be directed by Justin Lin but reports suggest that there was a rift between the longtime series director and Diesel. Louis Leterrier is now helming the film. It's still unclear if Lin is going to come back to do the eleventh movie.

If we assume that Fast X will premiere on May 19 with Fast 11 following suit a year later on February 2024, Universal must still wait for Larson to have time.

Larson will play an even bigger role during the Multiverse Saga, starting with The Marvels on July 28.

Ultimately, an all-female Fast film without Diesel's involvement will let him do some of his other passion projects. The last we heard from Diesel is that Marvel Studios wants to do a standalone Groot film. Diesel has also expressed his interest in making sequels to the Riddick and xXx series'.
