It's official: Assassin's Creed is going virtual.
Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin's Creed Nexus, the name of the series' long-gestating VR title, will be designed exclusively for the Meta Quest VR headset. This announcement, which came at the Meta Quest Games Showcase, is the first Assassin's Creed game that's exclusive to the said platform. It adds another layer to the franchise's legacy while branching out to VR gaming.
Ubisoft first mentioned Assassin's Creed Nexus three years ago. Since then, the project has since been referred to by fans as Assassin's Creed VR.
Assassin's Creed Nexus is the sole survivor of the initial slate of VR titles planned by Ubisoft.
Interestingly enough, Ubisoft Red Storm, known for its work on Rainbow Six Siege and The Division, is taking the lead in Assassin's Creed Nexus.
True to the company's "all-in" approach to Assassin's Creed, several other studios, including Ubisoft Reflections, Ubisoft Dusseldorf, and Ubisoft Mumbai, are all providing Ubisoft Red Storm a ton of support for the game.
Speculations from earlier reports suggest that Assassin's Creed Nexus will feature sixteen individual missions, putting the players in the shoes of the series' most legendary assassins.
