After last year's failed Zombies venture in Call of Duty: Vanguard from Treyarch, the studio is hungry to redeem itself.

Treyarch's Associate Director Kevin Drew confirmed on Twitter that the Call of Duty studio has "big plans for zombies", adding that Treyarch "want to grow the team to realize [its plans]."
The only question now is, when are we going to see the next Zombies game?
We have big plans for zombies and want to grow the team to realize them. There are several design positions open at a range of experience level so it’s a great time to apply if you are interested! https://t.co/8Abyfur0vK

Treyarch surprised a lot of gamers when it confirmed that it would work with Sledgehammer Games on a Zombies mode for Call of Duty: Vanguard. Zombies mode is a Treyarch-exclusive feature, so fans expected a lot after finding out that they would get a Zombies mode for two straight years. Unfortunately, it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be.
The good news here is that Treyarch is already working on the next Call of Duty Zombies game.
Of course, this is assuming that Treyarch's popular mode isn't going to become a separate franchise. Earlier this year, there were reports that Treyarch was working on a standalone Zombies game. This is neither a confirmation nor a denial.
However, if we believe the talk that Sledgehammer is the next Call of Duty studio, Treyarch could come out with a standalone Zombies game in 2023 if not 2024.
Having said that, we have little doubt regarding Treyarch's ability to make a good Zombies game or mode. It doesn't matter if it's a standalone release or part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the fan-favorite gameplay experience is in good hands with Treyarch hell-bent on proving doubters wrong.
