The White Lotus premiered on HBO two years ago as a limited series and quickly cemented itself as one of the network’s better shows with rave reviews and high ratings. Due to its success, HBO committed to renewing it for a second season, which led to a third one.

The series’ first and second seasons were set in Hawaii and Italy respectively. Now, according to a new Deadline report, the black comedy drama anthology series is heading to Thailand for its third season.
This isn't the first hint of The White Lotus season three location. Mike White, the show’s creator, dropped the first clue after the end of the second season last year, he stated, "The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex. I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus."
At the moment, The White Lotus is still in pre-production. However, White is reportedly in Thailand researching potential sites where filming will take place. Given that the first and second seasons of the series took place at Four Seasons resorts in Hawaii and Italy, there is a high chance the third season will continue the trend and take place on one of the hotel chain’s four properties in the country spread across diverse locations, including jungle, beach, and city.
The White Lotus chronicles various guests to the fictional White Lotus resorts over a week as well as the ugliness that stirs from them, the hotel employees, and the locals of the resort location. The television series is critically acclaimed with a host of awards to prove it. Among other awards, the series won 10 Primetime Emmy Awards in its first season and two Golden Globe Awards in its second season.
Outside of Jennifer Coolidge’s character, Tanya McQuoid, and Jon Gries’s character, Greg Hunt, the first two seasons had different casts. While the network is yet to confirm the new season’s cast, it is expected to continue this trend. Apart from his role as creator, White also writes and directs the series. Furthermore, he serves as one of its executive producers alongside David Bernad and Mike Kamine.
There is currently no indication of when the show will return. However, more information should come to light as work on it progresses, including cast members and release date.
